SEA: World Premiere in March 2014
SEA: World Premiere in March 2014
A young man is washed up on a drifting island.
The people take him in as a welcome fishing omen, bringing with him an abundant catch.
However, the people are not who he thought they were and the man begins to fear for his life and for the sea.
Following a development season in September 2013, Red Leap Theatre will premiere their brand new work SEA at the Maidment Theatre in Auckland, March 2014.
SEA is a large-scale visually striking and physically dynamic work featuring a cast of 9 and an array of stunning creatures and imagery designed by Kate Parker. This devised work is set to an original score by Claire Cowan; lighting design by Vanda Karolczak; costume design by Elizabeth Whiting; and set design by John Verryt.

INCUBATOR Returning in 2014
RED LEAP THEATRE is inviting applications for our 2014 INCUBATOR Programme. This is an opportunity to work alongside Red Leap and your peers to physically challenge and develop your ideas.
The INCUBATOR Programme allows the artist to let go of the preciousness of creating and get on with the making without analysing too hard. We will be inventing new work through strengthening the physical connection and play within the performers and generating material from which quality can be distilled.
INCUBATOR is designed for actors who like being physical but we welcome all levels of skill in this area.
INCUBATOR WILL TAKE PLACE:
Monday 17th to Friday 21st March 2014 | 10.00am – 4.30pm daily
Corban Estate Arts Centre, 426 Great North Rd, Henderson
$180.00 per person*
*Two scholarships available on application
LIMITED SPACES AVAILABLE
For more information or to request an application form, please contact the Company Producer: firstname.lastname@example.org
“Personally I felt like our group accomplished what we came for. Bringing a group of raw performers/ writers/ artists together into an environment that’s open, fun and creative is a strength of the programme. It’s safe, honest and critical (in a good way). Everyone was pushed into exciting areas”. Alisha Lawrie-Paul, INCUBATOR 2013
“This was my first workshop ever and I enjoyed playing the games before an exercise; it made me comfortable and open to make mistakes without feeling useless - no judgement and no right or wrong answers. The programme excelled in giving everyone a chance to work on their individual pieces and being open to ideas. The support was great and allowed us to give feedback to others without feeling too much pressure”. Participant, INCUBATOR 2013
PLEASE NOTE: RED LEAP THEATRE is delighted to be able to offer the INCUBATOR SHORT WORKS programme again in 2014, thanks to funding from Creative New Zealand. We will be selecting three works from the INCUBATOR workshop and offering them the opportunity to further develop their idea, including mentoring and financial support over a two month period. This will culminate in a ten day intensive workshop leading to a final presentation with an invited audience, hosted by Red Leap.
INCUBATOR: SHORT WORKS will take place from 9th – 21st June 2014, with the presentation on the 20th/21st.

Classes for 12-18yr olds to start in 2014
Beginning Term 2 of 2014, Red Leap Theatre will be offering classes for 12-14 and 15-18 year olds.
Highly physical and invigorating, these classes are aimed at new and emerging theatre practitioners who wish to learn more about devising theatre using physicality and imagery to tell stories. Each session will focus on different devising techniques that Red Leap Theatre employ in their own work.
All levels of experience are welcome.
The classes will take place every Sunday afternoon at Red Leap's HQ, the Corban Estate Arts Centre in Henderson.
For more information on becoming a part of these classes, email firstname.lastname@example.org
